Kedzie GreenLife
East Garfield Park - Chicago, Illinois

Kedzie GreenLife sets a new standard for sustainable mixed-use, transit-oriented development in the City of Chicago. The project consists of 30 energy-efficient condominiums housed in a distinctive tiered structure above more than 7,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space. An attractively landscaped green roof garden will be visible both from facing residences and from the adjacent CTA Green Line El platform. Kedzie GreenLife's pairing of residential and commercial space meets the community's needs for new jobs and affordable housing.

Contributing to the green-based initiatives that have been launched throughout Chicago's West Side, the project's innovative architectural design will help revitalize East Garfield Park while promoting best practices through environmentally sensitive elements. Passive green building systems and proven energy-efficient technologies will demonstrate the effectiveness of the Planned Green Development process. The entire building will be designed and constructed with the goal of achieving LEED® certification from the United States Green Building Council for efficient operation throughout its life cycle.

Kedzie GreenLife is a joint venture between Terra Firma Co. and Bethel New Life, Inc., a community-building organization serving Chicago's West Side. The firm is currently in discussions with the City of Chicago regarding this project. Groundbreaking is anticipated to take place in 2009.

Kedzie GreenLife features 30 energy-efficient condominiums built above street-level commercial space with a landscaped green roof garden. The development's close proximity to a CTA Green Line El station makes transportation convenient for its residents.
